Every year, Weber Shandwick opens its doors to local nonprofits for the Telling Your Story Workshop. This year marked a few special milestones: a 25th anniversary, new branding and a new space to host the annual event! 55 nonprofit attendees and 59 Weber Shandwick employee volunteers helped make this year’s workshop a huge success.
This year’s highlights:
An event welcome and opening from Eric Pehle.
A special appearance from Dave Mona. The WS veteran discussed the importance of communication, saying, “If you’re going to communicate with people, you need to know how you’re going to get their attention.”
A dynamic panel of nonprofit representatives, including Paul Ramsour, Elpis Enterprises executive director; Kelsey Steiner, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation development manager; Ellen Walthour, The BrandLab executive director; and Sara Dziuk, College Possible Minnesota executive director.
Maggie Fairs moderated the discussion on how these organizations strive to remain relevant in an ever-changing world.
Following the panel, WS offered seven different breakout sessions on themes ranging from social media to visual storytelling, and key messaging to website content.
The keynote took place after lunch. Sara Gavin graciously introduced Erich Mische, executive director of Spare Key, who gave an uplifting presentation on “Punching Above Our Weight.”
Before wrapping up the workshop, WS staff members volunteered to share their expertise and strategic insight with nonprofit attendees during one-on-one consulting sessions.
