Community Outreach

Weber Shandwick Minneapolis has a nearly 30-year history of supporting local nonprofit organizations in Minnesota. Our giving program, Making a Difference, is dedicated to bringing together our employees’ individual causes, our corporate resources and our professional skillsets to give back to our community at all levels. Our efforts are channeled through three main programs: pro bono client work, our Telling Your Story workshop and Weber Shandwick On Loan.

Pro Bono Client Program
Every year we solicit applications from local nonprofits that work with children and families on crisis intervention, diversity or educational programs and have a defined need for PR support. We select one nonprofit from those applicants and partner with them as we do with every account on our client roster. We assemble a 4-6 member account team that works with the client throughout the year on a PR strategy, and we provide funding for the execution of that strategy. Recent clients have included Mentoring Partnership Minnesota, People Serving People and College Possible.

Weber Shandwick On Loan
Throughout the year, we sponsor many half-day and full-day volunteer work programs in the community as part of Weber Shandwick On Loan. We loan out teams of employees to local nonprofits in need of extra hands, whether hauling logs and cleaning up after the North Minneapolis tornado, reading three times a week to children at a local elementary school, or setting up the silent auction for a cystic fibrosis gala. Our goal with Weber Shandwick On Loan is to give as many people in the office as possible the opportunity to engage with the wonderful local community of nonprofits, and this past year we had approximately 75-percent of employees step up to help those in need.

Telling Your Story
Because we don’t have the resources to help every nonprofit that seeks our help as a pro bono client, we host an annual workshop called Telling Your Story to teach nonprofits of all kinds to spread the word about their achievements and goals. To date, over 700 organizations have participated and used information from Weber Shandwick Minneapolis colleagues to strengthen their communication and better reach their target audiences.
