MINNEAPOLIS, January 22, 2016 – The Minneapolis office of Weber Shandwick has selected Elpis Enterprises, a St. Paul-based nonprofit organization that provides job training and career placement through paid work experience for homeless and at-risk youth, as its 2016 pro bono client.
“We are thrilled to partner with Weber Shandwick in the coming year,” said Paul Ramsour, executive director for Elpis Enterprises. “As a relied upon educational resource for young people, we look forward to partnering with Weber Shandwick to raise our mission’s visibility to supply homeless youth with a second chance at a successful future.”
For more than 13 years, Elpis Enterprises has provided paid work experience and employment readiness programs for homeless and at-risk youth between the ages of 16 and 23 years old. Through its three main social enterprises, including silk screen printing, woodworking and ecommerce, youth trainees develop the social, emotional and professional skills required to secure and retain long-term employment.
“Weber Shandwick is delighted to work with Elpis Enterprises by supporting its mission to supply homeless youth with skills to thrive in the workforce,” said Liz Miklya, senior vice president at Weber Shandwick and co-lead of the Minneapolis office’s pro bono program. “Our strategic partnership will heighten the public’s knowledge of homeless youth, forge networks of training program advocates and yield more long-term partnerships with businesses and organizations in the surrounding community.”
For more than 25 years, Weber Shandwick has been giving back to the community and working with local non-profits. In addition to working with pro bono clients since 1988, the agency partners with a wide range of nonprofits via its annual Telling Your Story communications workshop for non-profit agencies across the state and several small-scale community volunteer projects.
